The Hong Kong Quality Veggie Award (HKQVA) is our firstly launched event for the vegetarian industry. The Award aims to reward distinctive vegetarian products & recognize the effort and contribution made by outstanding enterprises in the Vegetarian Industry in Hong Kong.

Application Requirements:

Your product or service will be qualified to enter the Award if it:                
1. Vegetarian OR Vegan Products which is meatly free or cruelty free                 
2. Contributes to the enhancement / development of vegetarian industry and sustainability healthy lifestyle

               
If your product or service makes positive impact on the vegetarian industry or environment, submit your application along with two product samples to enter the Award.    

Entry Fee:

- Vegetarian Food Asia 2022 & LOHAS Expo 2022 exhibitors:
   HKD 2,000 (MAX 3 products)  
              
- Non-exhibitors: 
   HKD 6,000 (MAX 3 products)
- All applications are non-refundable.

Dr. William Lin is currently the Assistant Principal of the YMCA College of Careers (COC). COC is a non-profit-making institution dedicated to nurturing professionals from different sectors. Dr. Lin has more than 20 years of marketing and professional training experience. He is particularly good at market development, e-marketing, brand strategy, administrative management and personnel training. He has worked and held important positions in many well-known businesses, colleges and universities.

Prof. Jonathan Wong

Director,

Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre

Prof. Jonathan Wong is not only the director of HKORC, the Institute of Bioresource and Agriculture and the Sino-Forest Applied Research Centre for Pearl River Delta Environment, he is also the Head and Professor of the Department of Biology at the Hong Kong Baptist University where he has taught since 1992.

 

Prof. Wong is very much in the area of research with added flavors of sustainability, low-carbon life style, contaminant-free food, bioenergy, biomass, to achieve “a cleaner environment for all”.

Tracy has been working in health and wellness in Greater China for more than 10 years. She is trained in functional medicine, nutrition and health promotion at the University of Hong Kong and the Institute of Functional Medicine. She is the co-author of ‘The Food Sensitivity Handbook’ that focus on allergen-free lifestyle.
 
On the more entrepreneurial side, Tracy is experienced in institutional food services and corporate catering, particularly on healthy free-from options. She currently consults a few health food businesses in Hong Kong, familiar with food concepts including paleo, ketogenic, gluten-free and whole food plant-based.

Ms. Grace Wong

Chairman, Hong Kong Veg Society

Grace is a registered speech therapist and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Veg Society. She has been a vegetarian for 30 years with two children. She is also the author of the cook book 《純素.隨想Cook》and there are more than 50,000 followers on her Facebook page "Vegan Mama Kitchen".

Grace is often invited to attend radio and television shows to share vegetarian recipes and cooking tips. She usually teaches cooking courses and organize vegetarian seminars in colleges, primary and secondary schools, and vegetarian kitchens.

Criteria:

Hong Kong Quality Veggie Awards will be granted based on the following criteria:

Brand Philosophy
(25%)

- Brand story and aims of creating the product
- How actively the company leverage on the product to create the corporate social responsibility impact 

- Examples of eco-friendly & sustainability achievement or performance

Qualification & Certification (25%)

- Hold relevant certifications/certificates, such as Halal certification, FDA, HACCP
- Whether or not tests on animals are conducted / GMO free / vegan 

Design & Creativity 

(25%)

- Whether or not the product the packaging materials use biodegradable materials, environmentally friendly materials, and dissolved materials
- The use of creativity in different stages of product development & marketing 
- Any distinctive features on the design of the product differentiates itself from other products

 Market penetration rate (25%)

- No. of distribution points / retail outlets and the degree of product penetration in household (in terms of sold quantity in 2021)
- Applications of product in different sector include F&B, Catering Group, Household

    b)  Product photos x 2 (at least 300 dpi, maximum 1MB in JPG or TIF format)

  • Write answers to each criteria and attach its verifiable related materials. 
    We will consider your evidential documents to be more reliable, if any.

  • Evidential documents can include internal documents, photos, all kinds of receipts, newspaper articles, certificates etc; The documents will be considered more reliable if they were issued from non-profit or public organizations.

  • Please submit the application on or before 23:59 on 30 Nov 2021.

  • All applicants will receive entry acknowledgement by email. If you do not receive the entry acknowledgement TWO days after submission of entry application, you are advised to check with us immediately. 

  • Two product samples should be sent to us by 30 Nov 2021,  one for judging purpose and another one for product showcase at the Expo.

  • The organizer is not responsible for any loss, damage or destruction to all product display.

  • The organizer reserves the right to approve the applications.                    

  • All the provided information should be in Chi & Eng for promotional and record purposes.
